Najat Aatabou - J'en ai marre

Today's song is a traditional for Moroccans, it describes a lot of sad love stories, yet it is only sang in happy occasions.

PS: I didn't write for the past week, I took my Eid Vacation .

Najat aatbou

Story

Najat Aatabou, one of the many pillars that held/still hold Moroccan music/tradition on their backs.
The story behind this song is that in her early teens, Najat used to sneak from her house to sing in local weddings, to make money and for the love of the art.
One day in one of those weddings, someone filmed her while singing this song "J'en ai marre", it blew up. Everyone began selling her recording in the black market.
Years later the first ever recording was born, in 1987. Here it is:

Lyrics

اواخا جوني مار قلبي لي بغاك العمر
والوليد، الوليد
وانا جيت، انا جيت
وانا جيت جوني مار

Even so, I've had enough — my heart that loved you all this time
Oh dear one, dear one
And I came, I came
And I came, I've had enough

If you hear in the song "جوني مار " it is really from the french word "J'en ai marre" but the sound changes, like a lot of other words. For example, " Train " became " Tran " and " Fromage " became " Fermaj ". It happened in a lot of cultures and the Moroccan is not an exception.
As for the meaning, we all sometimes get tired of the acts of our lovers, sometimes they do wrong sometimes right, maybe you get tired just like that even if they do nothing wrong. Well, even if we are tired, we still love them. I always see people running after love, like they have to find it the moment they spawn in this world. Some find it early, some find it very late.
wether you find it in your 20's or 50's, I prefer 1 year of true love or 50 years of false hope. That's why i m coming. " وانا جيت، انا جيت"

ومشيت لروضة او عزاوني هلو يالوليد
والوليد، الوليد
وانا جيت انا جيت

And I went to the garden and they comforted me, welcome oh dear one
Oh dear one, dear one
And I came, I came

In life, we as people all know that someday we will day, that's the way of life. We have two choices, either to run from this thought and spend life playing around until we face it one day. Or face it on day 1 and accept it, you won't be here for long.
In the army they say to be a better soldier, act as if you are already dead. That has been mastered by a lot of armies, Muslims, Mongols and Romans.
As for the lyrics, I think there is something worse then your own death, the death of a loved one. The only thing that is left is their memories. As if they were never here. I'm writing this and thinking of everyone I love, my family, friends and I m already touched at the thought of it.
We have a saying in Morocco, "Lah yj3el nharna 9bl nhar 7babna" it translates to "May God make our day come before our loved ones' day"

Conclusion

Najat made a really beutiful song that spoke about love, death and other aspects of life. I love when humans just take a path of art, it brings up subjects that can't be talked about just like that, you need a deeper meaning. May we all find our peace.
